Requirements
macOS 14 or later. Transcription needs a downloaded speech model of about 75 MB, 140 MB or 470 MB depending on the size you choose; larger models are slower on older Macs. Local Coach and notes also need Ollama installed and a language model of a few GB on the Mac. Microphone and Screen Recording permissions are requested the first time you record.
Teams and departments
US$19.99 per person, once. The unlock is tied to an Apple Account, so for company-managed Macs write to sales@bitsummit.ca to confirm the purchasing route, or see For teams.

Questions

The ones we get asked about the price.

What counts as one of the three free meetings?

A recording that completes and produces a meeting in the Library. Recordings that fail before producing anything do not count. Dictation has its own allowance of 25 during the trial, separate from the three meetings.

What happens after the trial?

New recordings and dictation wait for the one-time purchase. Everything you recorded during the trial stays in the Library and in your export folder and remains readable.

Is it really a one-time payment?

Yes. US$19.99 once, as an App Store in-app purchase. There is no NoteHand subscription or renewal. Optional OpenAI or Anthropic usage is billed separately by that provider.

What do updates include?

Updates released for NoteHand, as described in the licence terms. Features may change over time; changes to data handling are called out in the release notes.

I have two Macs. Do I pay twice?

No. The App Store purchase is tied to your Apple Account and can be restored from Settings on another Mac signed in with the same account, subject to the licence terms.

Are notes free too?

With a local model through Ollama, yes: Ollama is free to install and the model runs on your Mac with no provider charges. If you connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic account, that provider bills you for Coach and notes processing under your account.

Is there a team plan with shared notes?

No. There is no shared workspace. Each person needs their own unlock and shares exported files through the tools your organisation approves. See For teams.

Who owns a licence the company paid for?

The App Store unlock is tied to the Apple Account that bought it. For company-managed Macs, write to sales@bitsummit.ca before rolling out so the purchasing and assignment route is agreed in writing.

What if I want a refund?

App Store purchases follow Apple's refund process, which you start from your Apple Account. Refund terms for the direct-download version will be published here when that version ships.

What happens to my notes if I stop using it?

Your exported Markdown files stay in the folder you chose and can be read and edited without NoteHand. The app's own records stay on your Mac until you delete them.
