Local AI needs Ollama, a free separate install from ollama.com; NoteHand then downloads the model for you. The NoteHand purchase price is the same whichever AI option you choose.
How does the free trial work?
Try NoteHand on your first three meetings. After that, the app is a one-time purchase of US$19.99.
Is there a monthly NoteHand subscription?
No. NoteHand is a one-time purchase. If you choose a cloud AI provider, that provider bills its usage separately.
Are all four features included?
Yes. Live Coach, meeting notes, the meeting library and dictation are part of NoteHand. You also get on-device transcription and editable Markdown exports.
Do I have to pay a cloud AI provider?
No. You can use a local model through Ollama for Coach and meeting notes. If you choose OpenAI or Anthropic instead, you use your own API key and pay that provider’s usage charges.
How much does cloud AI cost?
It depends on your chosen provider, model and usage. Those charges are not included in the US$19.99 NoteHand price. Check your provider’s pricing and account settings before choosing that option.
Which computer do I need?
NoteHand is a Mac app for macOS 14 or later. Local AI also needs Ollama, a free separate install, with a model NoteHand downloads once. Without Ollama or your own API key you still get transcripts, but not notes or Coach.

Unlocks with an in-app purchase. Updates arrive through the App Store like any other app.

A signed, notarised disk image. Unlocks with a licence key, and can type dictated text straight into other apps once you grant it permission. It can be a version ahead while an App Store update is in review. There is no automatic updater yet, so a new version means downloading the disk image again.
